Star Witness for 2004 Election Fraud Case Dies in Plane Crash

I posted this on MySpace and Facebook, and I'm hoping this story will catch on and people will learn about it. I'm no conspiracy nut, and in fact I'm incorrigibly defiant against outrageous claims about conspiracies that aren't substantiated by provable facts.

But this here is messed up. And I keep watching the news on TV to see if any networks are reporting it, but so far they're completely quiet about it.

Considering that there is currently an official investigation looking into possible foul play, and considering that the deceased pilot Mike Connell was the most knowledgeable possible witness in the case about 2004 election fraud in Ohio, it's my opinion that this is the most important news story in America right now.

http://onlinejournal. com/artman/publish/article_4158. shtml

http://www. washblog. com/story/2008/12/23/165756/53

http://www. opednews. com/articles/Rove-s-Dead-IT-Guru-Was-Sa-by-Ralph-Lopez-081226-309. html

http://www. cbsnews. com/stories/2008/12/23/cbsnews_investigates/main4684431. shtml

CBS/AP) Federal investigators are looking into a small plane crash in Ohio which claimed the life of its pilot, a Republican media consultant who was instrumental in the presidential and gubernatorial campaigns of three members of the Bush Family.

Michael Connell,45, of Akron died Friday when his plane crashed near a vacant house in Uniontown while attempting to land at nearby Akron-Canton Airport.

But the fatal accident is also raising questions about Connell and his work for key political figures and lobbyists, which has targeted him in investigations over missing White House e-mails and a lawsuit alleging electronic voting fraud.

Following Last Friday's fatal accident, CBS Affiliate WOIO reported that Connell, who had recently been subpoenaed to testify in relation to a lawsuit alleging vote rigging in the 2004 Ohio election, was warned at least twice about flying his plane because his plane might be sabotaged.

Quoting an anonymous close friend of Connell's, WOIO correspondent Blake Chenault also reported that twice in the past two months Connell, who was an experienced pilot, canceled flights because of suspicious problems with his plane.

I was listening to Obama's press conference today on KUT radio. I cracked up at this one answer Obama gave to a reporter. It's the last line of this excerpt. I thought for a second about how strange it felt to laugh with a president, rather than at him.

Q: Mr. President-elect...

OBAMA: What happened to your arm, Lynn?

Q: I cracked my shoulder running to your speech on election night.

OBAMA: Oh, no.

(laughter)

Q: (inaudible)

OBAMA: I think that was the only major incident during the, the entire Grant Park celebration.

Q: Thank you for asking. Here's my question. I'm wondering what you're doing to get ready. Have you spoken to any living ex-presidents, what books you might be reading?
Everyone wants to know, what kind of dog are you going to buy for your girls? Have you decided on a private or public school for your daughters?

OBAMA: Let... let me list those off.
In terms of speaking to former presidents, I've spoken to all of them that are living. Obviously, President Clinton... (laughter) I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any seances.

comedy movies

Pineapple Express I thought was pretty good, and Tropic Thunder is very funny. Some day this week I'm going to see Step Brothers. I hope I find some time soon to see Hamlet 2, especially since I'm a big Steve Coogan fan. His 1997 British TV show "I'm Alan Partridge" is one of the funniest things ever. And speaking of sequels, I want to rent Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay.

There are some non-comedies, too, that I wanna see. That Roman Polanski documentary. Not by him-- about him. I think it's called Wanted and Desired. And that movie about the World Trade Center tightrope walker. I want to see Vicky Christina Barcelona, which is probably a comedy, and the other Penelope Cruz movie, Elegy, which is probably not a comedy. Finally, I want to see a French film in the theaters, namely Tell No One, because it looks good and I love French movies and I haven't seen one in a theatre this year.

There's no way I'll see more than one or two of the above films until after a whole new batch of good movies comes out, including Burn After Reading and Bangkok Dangerous.

Watching Scrubs has never caused me to chuckle until a few minutes ago. A scene was in slow motion while the soundtrack to Koyaanisqatsi was playing. I'm a sucker for Koyaanisqatsi jokes. Curiously enough, a minute or two later in the episode, Braff started talking about improv.

I found on the webs that the last remaining Radiohead tickets in the U.S. are for the San Francisco show, as part of the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival at Golden Gate Park. The tickets are expensive...

Outside Lands Festival - Friday - Radiohead
Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival, San Francisco, CA
Fri, Aug 22, 2008 05:00 PM
Your Ticket(s)
General Admission Ticket

Ticket PriceUS $85.00 x 2

Convenience ChargeUS $10.50 x 2

...but if I go without eating or sell my plasma a bunch of times or something I can get myself a ticket, and then it's just a matter of hitchhiking or JetBlueing to San Francisco. I wish I had a couple hundred dollars right now. Ideally I could even buy a ticket for anyone who'd care to come with me as well, but for now I'm just trying to see Radiohead at all.

Yeah, as Kaci said, Jeff is around here at Epoch. It's about 2:30am and I'm doing a marathon of sorts to catch up on my Canadian Literature class before my final day of school, which is this Tuesday. I'm reading stuff and writing papers and hanging out with my friend Nugget and spent a little time at Kaci and Roy and Kareem's table, and I'm sparring with Roy on Scrabulous, and I'm drinking a fuck ton of Sumatran dark roast coffee.

By the way, Canadian literature is fascinating to me, and that's something I didn't know until I took this class. Right now I'm writing a paper about the journals of an expedition into the Northern Territories embarked upon in the late 18th century by a British Navy captain named Samuel Hearne. The trials he endured were unimaginably brutal. For example, he enlisted the help, for survival's sake, of a number of Indian tribespeople he encountered along the way, but the only way any of the Indians would agree to help him was if Hearne agreed to allow the Indians to slaughter Eskimos. The Canadian Indians just straight-up hated Eskimos. To those Indians, Eskimos were just simpleton trash who needed to be made extinct. Hearne had to agree to the Indians' request for rampant massacres so that he could better ensure his own survival and the completion of his expedition. He submitted to their demands with great reluctance.

I've pretty much decided I'm going to write a screenplay based on Captain (and later, Governor...) Hearne's journals.

On another note, I'm going to try to read a lot of books over the holidays. I've missed out on a lot of personal reading because of school.

The Jeff Britt/Newsweek Connection

My sketch troupe, with Chris Allen and Bryan Roberts, is called Costa Cider. I thought that would be a cool name after I found out accidentally, after some random web surfing, that a journalist for New Jersey Monthly went to Wichita, Kansas in 1978 on an assignment to find Albert Einstein's brain. He found it, in fact, in the home of the pathologist who had performed Einstein's autopsy. Thomas Harvey, that pathologist, reluctantly gave in to the journalist's request, and he pulled two mason jars out of a box that was labeled "Costa Cider." The mason jars contained Albert Einstein's brain (cut into 240 pieces) that had been "lost" for over 20 years.

So yeah, I thought that was a cool story, and that was the whole of the story that I knew until a couple of days after Costa Cider had its debut performance at The Hideout last week.

I was giddy and happy about the show, and I ended up finding the personal website of the journalist who found Einstein's brain, so I posted a link to it on the AIC forums for anyone who might be curious to discover what "Costa Cider" means.

Afterwards, I actually read the website, but still not very thoroughly, not yet. I did find some glaring syntax and grammar typos, so I wrote a friendly note to the journalist to inform him about the mistakes, and I thanked him as well for being an inspiration for the naming of my comedy team.

A day later, he wrote me back and thanked me for letting him know about the typos, and he expressed some incredulity that nobody had ever brought those to his attention despite that the site had been up for a full year. He also told me that he "loves" that we call ourselves Costa Cider, and that he'd sent me a MySpace friend request the night before.

Dang it! I'd denied his friend request already because it didn't have a picture, and I'd never heard of the person before, and the requester had only 7 friends, and one of the friends was the ubiquitous "Tom."

Happy, though, that he was so pleased with our troupe's name, I went back to look at his site again, and then I realized something that I'd missed the previous couple of times I'd looked: this man, Steven Levy, the journalist who rediscovered Einstein's brain in the 70's, who sent me a friend request on MySpace, is the current Senior Editor of Newsweek. In fact, he's been the senior editor of Newsweek magazine for years.

I love Newsweek. I miss having a subscription to it.

Anyway, I perused his website some more, with an even more critical eye than before, and I sent him about 12 more corrections. The next day, he thanked me again for being his only "copyeditor." I checked his site again, and every mistake I'd revealed had been corrected.

Now I'm one of only eight MySpace friends of Steven Levy, senior editor of Newsweek, finder of Einstein's brain.

ps: Another interesting fact about Albert Einstein: Einstein spent his last days being cared for at Princeton Hospital. On the night he died, he was tended to by a nurse who only spoke English. Einstein, who only spoke German, spoke his last words to that nurse, but she didn't understand him. Then he died.

Oktoberfest

This is my favorite text message conversation I've had this year. It's between me and Tom, my friend who works at a beer and wine store in Boston, and it happened last Saturday night during my drive to Thai Passion.

Tom: Werner Herzog just came into my store. He was really happy we stocked one of his favorite beers.

Me: OH FUCK YOUUU!

Tom: Yess!

Me: Which beer please.

Tom: Weihenstephaner Festbier (O-fest)

Me: Exc.! they've got it next door.

Tom: He was also trying to get some scalped Sox tickets.

I don't know if Herzog, one of my all-time film director heroes, was able to get into the Sox game, but it must have been pretty exciting for whoever was there, because they actually won, and I think they only need to win like one more game to make it back into the Series.
In other news, damn it, Whip-In carries two Weihenstephaner brews, but not the Festbier.

Costa Cider

C.J. and I are premiering our sketch comedy troupe at The Hideout this Friday at 8 o'clock.

We're pretty new (we decided 6 weeks ago that we would start writing and producing a live sketch show that we would put on in six weeks-- it's been a freakin' hustle, I tell you what!), and we haven't talked about our name much, but I think we're called Costa Cider.

Many thanks to Bryan Roberts, the very talented third member of our two man troupe. I have a lot of gratitude as well for Bob McNichol, a super intelligent and funny dude who has awesome taste in music and who coached us for a couple of our rehearsals. Thanks also to Albert Im and Jerry Weiser and Jason Vines for being in the cast and making this whole production such a big fun sausage party. Jason is also running our lights and sound, which is a pretty hefty responsibility in this case, and for doing that I thank him very much.

So yeah, Friday's show is part of the Threefer, and my friendtors (friends and mentors) Andy and Asaf are doing some improv under the moniker of 1813 Drake, and a troupe from Houston's improv collective, Massive, is also playing.

Radiohead 7

Radiohead's website just sent me an email. Radiohead have made a new record. Its title makes me a giddy little hoppy, floppy bunny.

In Rainbows
